Trades Smart coaches trade company owners in a standing monthly session where we open the same numbers against your budget, find which department and which metric caused the gap, and write down what changes before the next month closes.
Reporting tells you what's wrong. Somebody still has to fix it.
This isn't a motivational call or a webinar series. It's a standing appointment where we look at the same numbers every month and decide what changes.
- We build the budget with you, department by department, from your real capacity and pricing.
- Then we hold you to it. Same numbers every month, with the gap split by driver: which department, which metric, how many dollars.
- Decisions get written down: what changes, who owns it, and when it's done. The next session opens by checking whether it happened.
- You hear the thing you don't want to. That the pay plan is driving the behavior you keep complaining about, that one department is carrying another, or that you can't afford the growth you're planning yet.
What it usually ends up being about
Once the reporting is honest, the problem is rarely technical. It's how you're priced, how the departments are split, and what the pay plan rewards. Those are the conversations that move gross profit, and a dashboard can't have them with you.
- How you're priced, and whether it holds
- How the departments are split, and which one is carrying which
- What the tech pay plan is really rewarding
- When to hire, and when you can't yet
- Capacity for the growth you're planning
- What to do about the shop undercutting you
Monthly, with 30 days' notice to cancel. If a month goes by where it wasn't worth it, you should leave.
Common questions
What does a business coach for an HVAC company do?
Holds you to a budget every month, finds which department and metric caused any gap, and works through the decisions behind it: pricing, pay plans, department splits, hiring and capacity.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Coaching is monthly and you can cancel with 30 days' notice, with no exit fee.
Do I need the reporting first?
It helps, because coaching runs on honest numbers. If you have no budget yet, building one is the first session.
Find out what's leaking.
One call, no pitch. We go through your booking rate, what's sitting unsold in your CRM and whether your pricebook is helping or hurting, and I'll tell you whether there's anything worth doing.
